Meet your coaches:
Coach Walt is the Owner and Head Coach at Wilmington Weightlifting Club. He is also Vice President of the North Carolina LWC, a USAW National Coach where he has coached and assisted in coaching some of the best lifters in the country.
His philosophy in coaching is within guiding lifters in the right direction with training hard, but most importantly, in training SMART. Heavily advocating the ideal that every training session should build into an athlete's long-term success and health, building solid foundations for their longevity within the sport of weightlifting.
Being an accomplished National coach, helping our athletes secure over 30 national medals, he puts his experience and love for coaching out there as a Coaching Course Instructor for USA Weightlifting, where he helps in teaching and producing knowledgeable, well-rounded coaches that, in turn, apply what they learn into coaching their own athletes all around the country.
Our lifters are often recognized as being not only strong and accomplished, but as being some of the most respectful, technically proficient and all-around beautiful lifters; and it all starts and ends with the philosophy and genuine objective from our Head Coach and ringleader here at the Wilmington Weightlifting Club.
Josh has 6 years of experience in the Health and Fitness field with experience working with a wide variety of populations through many different fitness domains, including Olympic Lifting, strength and Conditioning, injury prevention, endurance training and athletic performance. He received his BAchelor's of Science from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in the study of Exercise Science. He's a CPT through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Level 2 Advanced Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting, a Certified Health Fitness Specialisty through ACSM and a Certified level 1 Crossfit Instructor. In addition to Josh's knowledge in the field of Health and Fitness, Josh excels at keeping people around him motivated and determined to reach their goals in a safe and effective manner.
Josh is also a US NAVY veteran and served two combat deployments to Afghanistan as a Corpsman With 1st Battalion 2nd Marines in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom between 2011-2016.
He earned his Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Pin and has been awarded a Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
As an accomplished National level athlete, Coach Lindsey has done quite a lot in the time she's spent in the sport: having qualified for Senior Nationals and having competed in multiple American Open Finals, AO Series, University Nationals, as well as medalling yearly at the North Carolina State Championships.
Lindsey is a mother of two, who is a patient and enthusiastic energy with a keen eye for the Olympic lifts. She is well versed in nutrition, and has been a USAW Sports Performance Coach since 2016.
Coach Brandon is our Head of Strength and Conditioning at the Wilmington Weightlifting Club. He is very knowledgeable on not only strength training and conditioning, but he also has a background in Nutrition and meal planning. Brandon is a UNCW alumni, who has a bachelors in Exercise Science and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is furthering his education in order to become a Physical Therapist.
Coach Casey is a certified Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Specialist through Poliquin® International Certification Program (PICP). Additionally, Casey has a Level 1 certification in Poliquin® BioSignature
Casey has been a professional personal trainer for 6 plus years and continues to further his education and knowledge by attending seminars and workshops.
